Scientists are not much bothered about the naturally occurring greenhouse gases as nothing can be done about them. It is the greenhouse gases as a result of human activities, which worries the scientists very much. Greenhouse gases produced due to human activities can be very much avoided thereby making the atmosphere of this earth less polluted.

Greenhouse effect is a very important phenomenon related to globalwarming awareness2007. The term greenhouse effect is commonly used to describe the increase in the recorded temperatures over the past 100 years. Greenhouse effect is a major contributor in bringing about global warming. So, we need to understand what greenhouse effect is and how it affects our planet. The sun heats up the Earth by sending solar rays towards us. Some of these rays do not get through our atmosphere. Those that do, warm up the earth. Without the “natural greenhouse effect”, life on this earth would have been very much different.

There are four main naturally occurring gases that are responsible for the greenhouse effect: water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. Once these gases absorb energy, the gas particles begin to vibrate and they radiate energy in all directions, including 30% of it back towards the earth. As a result, the Earth’s average surface temperature is kept warm enough so that life can exist on this earth. The blanket of the atmosphere creates a blanket around the Earth to facilitate the optimum temperature on our planet. The most well known man-made greenhouse gas is fluorocarbon. Fluorocarbon is a man-made gas. But human activities also impact the naturally occurring greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide.
